Building on our client success in onshore and offshore wind, Natural Power has adapted and grown its services offering to support the biomass market. Following our onshore model we are able to offer full life cyc le services from project design to consent, construction and operation.

Natural Power offer technical services for the development of biomass energy projects for applications of heat, power and cogeneration from feasibility to project handover. We can undertake this role in a variety of ways including Lead Consultant/Project Manager, Owners Engineer and Lenders Engineer. We also undertake due diligences for potential investors / during refinancing.

We aim to be involved throughout the whole process, which tends to need careful consideration, but if requested we can carry out different work stages within the overall project programme.

By offering an independent service we ensure projects are assessed thoroughly for commercial and technical viability and as such are often called upon as a trusted agent for developers, investors and financial institutions.

It is worth noting that biomass technology is in many cases well proven and available in a European context, but in UK and other areas there is not always a precise fit with supplier’s requirements and the local standards, regulations and operating context. We aim to bring our significant experience in the local regulation, contracting and construction, which will be required to develop successful projects. For example our in-house expertise in grid connection and safety management are attractive to many developers.

The emergence of new and advanced technologies especially in small scale power generation requires significant evaluation and we bring together a multidisciplinary team to look at specific issues such as fuel handling, storage design, conversion, clean up, power generation, pollution abatement, etc.

Biomass feedstocks in the UK and globally are a significant issue to project success. Addressing issues of supply (land use, yields, extractability) and global demand (policy, technically viable end uses) is critical. Natural Power has extensive industry contacts and can address issues of sustainability and availability of long term supplies
