When completed Crystal Rig Wind Farm was the largest (onshore) wind farm in Scotland with a rated output of 50 MW. Crystal Rig II Wind Farm was consented on 12 July 2005. The 52 turbines will be positioned predominately to the west of the existing Crystal Rig Wind Farm; with turbines both within the Scottish Borders Council and the East Lothian Council.
Combined, the Crystal Rig wind farms will provide electricity equivalent to the annual demand of up to approximately 140,000 homes.
