Site Co-ordination with WindCentre

The operational control room is located at our global headquarters in Scotland and performs monitoring and communication services across our site management portfolio. The operational controllers who man the control room provide the site managers and contractors with support and cover from 6am to 10 pm 365 days per year. The control room uses our purpose-built software WindCentre to quickly and efficiently manage all site access and work activities. The control room also manages outage notifications as part of any PPA obligations.

Our operational controllers constantly monitor onsite weather, and notify personnel at site should adverse weather conditions be forecast, such as low visibility, lightning or high winds. In the event of a site emergency, the control room provides a first point of contact and co-ordinates the steps required to manage the emergency, through a pre-prepared wind farm emergency plan in accordance with industry best practice and approved under an ISO 9001:2000 approved quality system. In addition they can act as the first point of contact with the local electricity distribution company or NGT regarding work /operations across the designated HV Control Boundary.

All operations on the site are logged using the WindCentre database. Our dedicated wind farm software is designed as a complete wind farm gateway, logging details of all operations and actions on site and ensuring the appropriate documentation is in place before work commences. The wind farm SCADA system is monitored from the control room and the operational controllers are capable of monitoring and resetting alarms as part of a pre-agreed reset schedule.
