In Practice: R Coding as a tool to streamline manipulation and analysis of ecological data sets

December 12, 2018

The use of mobile data application software (apps) for ecological survey improves the quality and consistency of field-collected data, but these advances can be undermined if subsequent data handling and analysis is not similarly streamlined. Here we describe how bespoke data analysis code, written using the R statistical scripting language, can minimise data processing time, reduce data manipulation errors and rapidly generate easily interpretable and replicable outputs.
