The RE+ 2025 Conference, held in Las Vegas from September 8-11, 2025, served as the largest forum for the North American clean energy industry this year. It attracted over 37,000 professionals and 1,300 exhibitors. The event showcased the rapid evolution of solar, energy storage, and related technologies. In the throes of a complex political and market landscape, the conference underscored the industry's resilience and its central role in meeting surging power demand.

Three main themes dominated the discussions and exhibitions at RE+ 2025:

Grid Modernization and Resilience:

A central topic was the urgent need to upgrade and digitalize the existing electrical grid to accommodate the massive influx of renewable energy. Sessions and workshops focused on the integration of solar and energy storage, the rise of microgrids, and the role of software and AI in optimizing grid performance. Companies presented cutting-edge solutions for grid management, including advanced software platforms, intelligent controls, and tools for demand response. The discussions highlighted the importance of moving beyond simply adding clean energy capacity to building a smarter, more resilient, and responsive grid capable of withstanding extreme weather events and handling the complexities of a distributed energy future.

Domestic Manufacturing and Supply Chain Security:

With ongoing geopolitical and policy shifts, the emphasis on securing a robust domestic supply chain was more pronounced than ever. Exhibitors and speakers highlighted new U.S.-based manufacturing facilities for solar panels, inverters, and batteries. The conference addressed the implications of recent legislation and trade policies, with a specific focus on navigating the OBBBA and maximizing incentives like the Investment Tax Credit. Panels and keynotes featured leaders from the solar manufacturing sector who shared their strategies for building a competitive and durable U.S. solar and storage industry, emphasizing the need for both technological innovation and stable policy frameworks.

Technology and Financial Innovation:

RE+ 2025 provided an inspiring amount of information on the current trends of technological and financial innovation. On the technology front, attendees saw the latest advances in solar panel efficiency, energy storage system design, and the application of AI and machine learning. Companies showcased new solutions for everything from autonomous construction robots for utility-scale projects to advanced software for optimizing home energy systems. Financially, the conference provided insights into evolving business models and investment strategies. Discussions on "safe harboring" to preserve tax benefits, new lending solutions for project development, and the dynamics of mergers and acquisitions in the clean energy space demonstrated a mature and sophisticated financial ecosystem well capable of surviving any external shocks imposed on it. The convergence of technology and finance was a clear takeaway, with a focus on how innovative products and data-driven insights are enhancing project economics and attracting investment capital.

Natural Power

The Natural Power team met with many clients and suppliers over the course of the three days. It was extremely helpful to be able to discuss with our clients their views of the current market and how they are planning to address the regulatory and political turbulence. We were impressed by how creative our clients are managing to be in dealing with the current market conditions. All of our clients were convinced that the broader trends of strong increasing power demand coupled with business, as opposed to government, incentives to reduce carbon footprints would prevail and see the clean energy business carry on growing over the next few years.

For the first time at RE+ we hosted a well-attended Craft Beer Reception that brought clients, investors and suppliers together in an informal environment. The Naturally Powered hike, which started at 6:30am to avoid the heat of the Nevada day, attracted several clients to our walk around the Lone Mountain Discovery Park. We discovered that as it turned out we weren’t so alone at Lone Mountain after all.
