What does your day typically consist of?
My day always starts the same way, with a super strength coffee! Then it’s on to the emails to see if anything urgent has come from our overseas offices overnight. After that I’ll create a “to do” list, to try and give some order to my day. Every day is different but typically I’ll spend time with the team to assess priorities and review all work in progress. We can have several campaigns running concurrently so it’s important that they stay on track and timescales are reviewed to accommodate any shifting priorities.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
There are two main things. First of all the people – the team at Natural power are amongst the most friendly, talented and diverse I’ve ever worked with and I’ve learned so much from them in the six months I’ve been here. Second is the variety of tasks required to be covered in this role. We are a relatively small team but have responsibility for promoting the brand across the globe. We have a number of new services and products we are ready to launch to the market so we are working on a lot of exciting creative ideas and having some interesting discussions regarding the channels we plan to use!
How did you get into the role in the first place?
I had been working in a marketing agency for about ten years and was looking for a new challenge. Working client-side where I could work exclusively on one brand, in an exciting industry, was a very attractive prospect, so I applied and was lucky to be offered the job!
What is your degree and/or professional qualification?
I’ve got a Biology degree from Edinburgh University – probably not the most conventional qualification for this job, but it has proven very useful in discussions with the Ecology team!
What is the most interesting type of work you have done and why?
I find the strategic planning for the brand the most interesting. Natural Power has grown rapidly in 20 years and it has been fascinating going back to basics and getting an understanding of what we are, how we operate and our proposition to the market place.
What is your biggest achievement at work?
I have only worked at Natural Power for six months so my hope is that my biggest achievements are still to come. However, it was extremely satisfying to see the new website and suite of sales brochures featuring the new branding go live!
Any hidden talents?
I can play a mean bass guitar on Guitar Hero!
What is your favourite hobby?
I’ve got a two year old so I don’t have a huge amount of time for hobbies but I’ve always been an outdoorsy person so bike rides and walks have always been a favourite way to pass the time.
