Scottish National Heritage (SNH) has published new guidance on bat surveys that could affect UK onshore wind-farm projects and consented and operational sites. Published in January 2019, Bats and Onshore Wind Turbines: Survey, Assessment and Mitigation outlines changes on how bats are surveyed, how impacts are assessed and how mitigation is deployed at operational phase. In this white paper our bat experts look at how this new guidance might affect different project phases and buying or selling a consented or operational site. They also outline some of the new requirements and what this might mean for asset owners in terms of cost and energy yield.
