When did you join Natural Power? 

June 2008 

Can you tell us more about your role?

I’m part of the consenting team, based in Aberystwyth, West Wales where I lead the Welsh consenting team. My role is to oversee large scale renewable energy projects, from wind farm, solar, battery and grid, all across the UK. Every project is different from one and another and that’s what makes the role exciting.  

Why did you want to join the renewable energy industry? 

After finishing my Geography degree where many of the modules were related to climate change, I was inspired to do something positive to try and minimise the impact on our planet.  

What is the most challenging part of your role? 

The length of time it takes to get a project up and running. Despite some improvements in recent years, the challenging and lengthy planning processes, and reduced consultee capacity, mean decisions on projects can take a very long time.    

What is your favourite aspect of renewables? 

Seeing a project get built that you had worked on for many years and telling my children that I helped build that project.  

What has been your proudest achievement? 

My first ever project at Natural Power in 2008 when I joined was Carno III and the project is finally being built this year. It is my first renewable baby and I’m very excited to be seeing this project come to fruition.  

Tell us something interesting about yourself (do you have a hidden talent or a quirky fact?)  

I am a fluent Welsh speaker and take great pride in my ability to speak Welsh with colleagues, clients, landowners, and the community.  

As a team leader could you tell us a bit about your team and which areas you cover? 

I lead the team in the Welsh office, while supporting the wider consenting team across the UK, in progressing renewable projects from feasibility stage, through the consenting process and providing support during pre-construction.
