Sylvain Legay
When did you join Natural Power?
I joined Natural Power on September 2, 2024, after spending seven years in another branch of the wind energy sector, where I was focused on wind turbine maintenance for a major French group. I then broadened my experience over more than four years as a regional, then supra-regional manager for the Brittany / Western France area, working for a major German group. There, I was in charge of maintenance activities, this time on behalf of third-party clients.
What does your day typically consist of?
There is no such thing as a typical workday in the department I manage. Nothing is ever the same—and that’s exactly what makes this job so exciting. One day I might be in the office, and the rest of the week I could be over 100 meters up inside a wind turbine, supporting my teams in the field. Sometimes I start the week inside a blade and finish it working remotely. This variety is what makes my professional life so rich and fulfilling.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
What I appreciate most about my work is the freedom I have to organize and develop a team of wind energy experts, with very few constraints—as long as the projects are viable. I also place great value on the quality of the interactions I have with other departments I work alongside every day. Engaging with people from different backgrounds and experiences, yet who operate within the same environment, brings not only tremendous value to my work but also real personal enrichment.
What is the most interesting type of work you have done and why?
The most interesting projects I have had the opportunity to work on include, first and foremost, the creation of a new department. This service, initially focused on inspections, has evolved into a true technical expertise and consulting hub, driven by a passionate team with strong knowledge of the wind energy sector.
Secondly, I would say that our collective ability to continuously innovate and develop new activities or processes makes my work particularly rewarding. Seeing each team member fully engaged to ensure we keep progressing is, in my view, a real success.
What is your biggest achievement at work?
My greatest achievement at Natural Power has yet to be realized, but we work towards it every day. It will be to ensure that our department is recognized and recommended in the field of wind energy expertise—both for the quality of our technical know-how and for the human values we embody. This success will above all be collective, built through the commitment of every team member, each contributing their experience to help the entity grow and shine.
